Skipper Dan

Weird Al's new album Alpocalypse has a track called "Skipper Dan." Al calls it a style-parody of Weezer, but to me it sounds more like early Fountains of Wayne. And it doesn't sound like a parody - it's actually a pretty good song.

Life in a Day - Trailer

On July 24, 2010, thousands of people around the world uploaded videos of their lives to YouTube to take part in Life in a Day, a historic cinematic experiment to create a documentary film about a single day on earth.

Creative sure, practical not necessarily so, but definitely awesome.

People with a lot of time on their hands (and bodies)...

Hilarious Stuff - *David Hasselhoff related material enclosed

Ok, so I paired the original version with the "literal" version. So hilarious that a) the original video was made at all and b) the absolutely spot on literal interpretation. Comments are a must after viewing this video!

I also recommend viewing the "Total Eclipse of the Heart" original and literal versions on youtube. I tried embedding them on this post but the site would not allow the awesomeness to be shared.

Amazing Acoustic

Leo Kottke's 1969 album "6- and 12- string guitar". Still one of his finest works. Gotta check out "Driving of the Year Nail" and "the Fisherman", two of my favorites.

Empty Space Orchestra

As if their awesome name, Empty Space Orchestra, was not enough, their music is STELLAR! Don't remember who tipped me off to this band or if I just saw their name somewhere but finally checked them out online tonight and wanted to pass along the info. Based on their webpage and youtube hits it seems as though they have yet to hit it big but as I live mainly in the world of complex instrumental jam/fusion I stumbled on them and think what they do should be spread.

These are the best two videos of theirs I was able to find.
